About Our Director
Ronke Soyombo is an accomplished educationist, business lawyer, a prolific writer, Microsoft certified professional and a politician. With over 25 years teaching experience in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, she has earned a name for herself as a stickler for high standards and quality performance.
Her unique skill in utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to aid learning in schools, led to her appointment as ICT Coordinator and Team Leader in London where she became the first Advanced Skill Teacher (AST) for ICT in Lambeth Borough, London. (Top 3% Teachers in England and Wales). She has demonstrated her IT skills through the introduction of virtual learning programme known as Ogun Digi Class during her time as the Acting Commissioner for Education in Ogun State. This initiative of hers was really accepted and had positive impact on the academic turn out of Ogun State Learners which spured other States of the Federation to adopt the brilliant innovation.
Her first-rate teaching skills also came to bare in her position as Head-Teacher of two top schools in London and two top schools in Nigeria where she worked as Director of learning and Head-Teacher respectively while she was instrumental in helping many under-performing schools to improve and attain higher standards.

Her years in the education sector have availed her cognitive competence in quality assurance and evaluation, stakeholder engagement, budget and resource management, school improvement plan implementation, performance optimization, as well as academic intervention schemes aimed at student improvement and inclusion. She is also versed in identifying gaps in education standards, filling those gaps and raising standards through skill impartation to teachers in primary and secondary schools.
Ronke obtained her first degree in Chemistry Education at the University of Lagos in 1989. After which, she proceeded to earn LLB in Business Law from London Guildham University (now London Metropolitan University) in 1997. She thereafter obtained a Microsoft certification in Server and Workstations in September 1997. Still not resting on her oars, she proceeded to obtain a Qualifying Teaching Status in 2002 as well as National Professional Qualification for Headship (Headteachers’ qualification) from the Institute of Education in 2007.
For one so versatile and resourceful, it came as no surprise therefore when the then Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, appointed her as the first Director General (DG) of the Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance in 2015. A
position she retained in the administration of two consecutive governors after Fashola, namely Governors Akinwunmi Ambode and Babajide Sanwo Olu. In this posting, she led the group that wrote the evaluation schedule for the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja.
Her brilliant performance as the Director General of the Quality Assurance Agency in Lagos State earned her an appointment by the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun as the Special Adviser on Education. Ronke acted as the Commissioner in Ogun State for a period of 16 months where she led the three Education Agencies in the State namely; Ministry of Education, Science & Technology, Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) pending the appointment of the Heads of the aforementioned Agencies. Since her assumption into office, a number of intervention schemes were initiated by her office such as a virtual programme known as Ogun Digi Class, Onboarding of teachers to an enclosed platform known as Microsoft 365, Digitization and Contextualization of lesson plan and training of teachers to mention but few.
